SUSTAINABILITY

When Brag Vintage began in 2011, climate change was a fairly new topic of conversation and still fiercely debated amongst scientists and researchers. Fast forward 8 years and it has become obvious that something needs to be done to curb existing waste and pollution and the fashion and clothing industry is one of the largest sources of pollution in the form of carbon emissions as well as used clothing sent to landfills. Fast fashion has accelerated this process with new trends every season as clothing becomes more and more “throw away” and a staggering 300,000 tonnes of textiles end up in landfill in the UK each year.

HOW BUYING VINTAGE HELPS

Buying vintage helps to avoid the problem of waste textiles going to landfill. Without the vintage and second hand clothing industry the problem would be much much worse and our valued customers help by giving a new lease of life to our ethically sourced vintage pieces. There is also a much lower carbon footprint when buying vintage as the labour and materials have already been put into producing the garment. Our unique, hand-picked collection of vintage and retro garments let's you buy into trends without the carbon footprint of the fast fashion chains.

OUR GOAL

We aim to re-use, re-wear & repair every garment we source turning old pairs of Levi's jeans into cut off denim shorts as well as reworking worn denim jackets and t-shirts into new trend setting items amongst many other examples. Our in-house design team are always looking for ways to recycle scraps of garments into new and interesting products for our loyal customer base. We know that the more customers we win over the less people will buy into wasteful fast fashion and the more people will buy our re-used, second hand and perfectly wearable vintage garments. If we work together we can help make a big difference by providing eco-friendly & trend led vintage clothing. Living sustainably doesn't mean you can't be fashionable!

RECYCLING

At Brag Vintage HQ, we recycle everything we can including cardboard boxes and plastic whenever possible but we know there is always more we can do as we aim to expand our reworked clothing range. We send any non-vintage garments we find to local charities for resale and we always use sea shipping methods to import our goods rather than air transport.

As a company, by being conscious of the impact our actions can have on the environment we hope to do our bit and also pass this ethos on to our customers.
